T&I Wine Selection Process

“... All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped,
but with others, drink the whole bottle.’
‘How will I know which is which?’
‘By the taste. You can only know a good wine if you have first tasted a bad one.”
Paulo Coelho
HOW DOES OUR SELECTION PROCESS WORK?
Our selection process is an important part of our T&I philosophy always building on with patience, curiosity & being open-minded.
Our wine portfolio is a result of a rigorous selection process very significant to our company.
We want to offer to our customers high quality wines that will bring personality to their own selection, come from genuine winemakers committed to the respect of the environment.
We first taste 100-200 wines from the same APPELLATION at local fairs with no other influence than the quality of the wine. We then personally visit the wineries and spend quality time with the winemakers to ensure a shared philosophy and the necessary commitment to quality and service.
At the winery we personally verify that the respect of nature in the whole process from the vineyards to the winery is a commitment important to the winemaker.
The wines are tasted several times before making the final decision with our markets and customers always in mind. We want to bring diversity to them, sometimes traditional wines, sometimes innovative wines but always authentic and offering a great value.
Wines with personality, made by good people, respectful of the environment.
VISION OF WHAT IS NEEDED

With an open-mind, our market visits, our readings, our discussions with customers and winemakers and our wine discoveries bring the vision of what would be a good addition to our portfolio.
1

EXTENSIVE COMPARATIVE WINE TASTINGS

Every month, Jean-François Ey, T&I owner, goes to local wine fairs where he gets to taste hundreds of wines from the same area and style. He reviews established wineries and discovers unknown ones. Only influenced by the quality of the wines he selects a handful of the best potential partners.
2

WINERIES & WINEMAKERS PERSONAL VISITS
Sometimes alone but often with sales associates or even customers, Jean-François Ey visits the winemaking room, tours the vineyards, checks the installations and spends quality time with the winemakers and their families. It is also the opportunity to taste previous vintages no longer for sale in order to assess the ageing potential of the wines.
3

ECOLOGICAL COUNCIOUSNESS
Touring the properties and discussing their efforts with the winemakers, we check their commitment to preserving the environment and bringing safe and organic wines to the consumers.
4

COMPARATIVE TASTING
Yes, we taste again! We consider important to taste the pre-selected wines several times in various situations. First, we compare them to each other, then we really drink them (finally !) in their appropriate situation: dining, aperitive, partying, beach barbecues etc…
5

PRICE EVALUATION
All along we kept the value of the wines in mind, but now comes the time to calculate precisely the resell price for our customers and compare with the existing worldwide competition. We want our wines to over deliver their price points!
6

DIVERSITY. WE LOOK FOR A VARIETY OF STYLES
Our portfolio aims to cover all the regions of France and Spain and bring to market the fantastic diversity these 2 countries have to offer.
From entry level to high end and even prestige, sometimes traditional sometimes innovative styles are being chosen.
As a wine distributor, we want to offer to our customers a diverse portfolio that will bring personality to their own selection.
7

FINAL RESULT
Wines with personality, made by good people, respectful of the environment.
